A very important early gold rarity, the 1823 half eagle comes from a tiny mintage of only 14,485 coins with precious few survivors in mint state. The present offering saw amazing preservation and stands among the finest extant, with only three finer graded by PCGS. Bold definition can be seen throughout the design with rich honey-golden color becoming a deeper shade of orange along the peripheries. Radiant luster shines through the original patina adding to the already incredible eye appeal. An important acquisition for the advanced specialist!
