Newcomb-16. Affirming the NGC attribution begins with noticing the peripheral die-crack around reverse, evidently seen on all known examples. This die-marriage is sometimes found with a doubled profile, although the dies were properly calibrated when this cent was struck, such that pleasant detail was brought up on both sides. The reverse captivates attention due to the remarkable level of contact-free quality, while minimal nicks are strewn across the obverse.
