Losbeschreibung
A grade that we seldom offer for the 1916-D, for this key date Mercury dime is actually more readily obtainable in Mint State; those coins that entered commercial channels stayed there until well worn and, today, the typical survivor is in grades such as Good and VG. The example offered here, however, is minimally circulated with sharp definition remaining to most features. The central reverse crossbands are lightly worn, as befits their positioning on the coin, but the strike appears to have been sharp enough to nearly qualify as Full Bands. There are no troublesome marks, and the surfaces are pleasingly toned in a blend of gold and light mauve-gray. From a mintage of just 264,000 pieces, and an important About Uncirculated survivor of the key date issue in the Mercury Dime series of 1916 to 1945.
