- 1883 Liberty Eagle. MS-64 (NGC).
According to The Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins, 1795-1933 (2008): "Once considered moderately scarce, the 1883 eagle is now common thanks to European bank hoards, where hundreds of examples were found from MS-60 to MS-62. Even MS-63 examples can be found with little difficulty, but MS-64 coins are extremely rare." This example displays glowing mint frost and lovely peach-gold coloration, with strong accents of rose. Small, scattered marks keep it from an even higher grade.
PCGS# 8699.
