1873 Liberty Head Double Eagle. Open 3. MS-61+ PL (NGC). A particularly appealing example of this popular type issue in the Liberty Head double eagle series, this otherwise satiny coin reveals considerable prooflike reflectivity in the fields as the surfaces dip into a light. Handsome honey-rose patina throughout, the strike razor sharp and the in hand appearance uncommonly smooth for the assigned numeric grade. NGC Census: just 1; 0 finer in this category. PCGS# 8967.
