Lot Description

1772 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 5-72A, W-7710. Rarity-6. GEORGIVS III. VF-20 Tooled. 118.83 grains. Deep chestnut brown. Design elements readily congruent with the assigned grade. Obverse perfectly centered with a patch of verdigris at George's eye and a shallow depression at O, reverse rim tight to bottoms of date numerals, numerous depressions and some roughness at TAN, otherwise essentially unmarked to the naked eye. Some smoothing in the fields comes to light under low magnification. All things considered, a wholly acceptable example of a rare Machin's Mills issue. PCGS# 451.
