1892 Barber Half Dollar. Proof-65 Cameo (NGC). This outstanding specimen is toned in iridescent reddish-apricot and cobalt blue that appears to drift toward the borders. Silky smooth throughout with pronounced cameo contrast between satiny devices and mirrored fields. Always in demand for high quality type purposes, the 1892 is the premier Proof Barber half dollar. An unusually generous mintage of 1,245 pieces was achieved in anticipation of heightened Proof set sales associated with the introduction of the dime, quarter and half dollar of this design type.
