- 1839 Liberty Half Eagle. AU-58 (NGC). CAC. This deep yellow-gold specimen represents the first year of Christian Gobrecht's new Liberty Head design type. Though lightly circulated, much luster is present and any surface marks or blemishes are all but invisible. The design features are sharp and the eye appeal is substantial. We note a few <em>raised </em>die lumps on Liberty's neck. Truly a choice example of the date and grade combination.
