1871-S Liberty Eagle. EF-40 (PCGS). OGH. Otherwise khaki-orange in color, more direct angles allow the patina to brighten to more of a medium-orange hue. Scattered abrasions are commensurate with the grade, and the detail is suitably bold despite the characteristic softness of strike to the S mintmark. The elusive (16,500 coins struck) 1871-S Eagle is scarce in worn condition and unknown in Mint State.
