This is a very pleasing near-GEM. Boldly lustrous golden surfaces with flashy brilliance and nearly Prooflike reflective surfaces. The devices are sharply struck up with a nice frosty texture. There are a few minor light lines, but these do not impact the exceptional GEM like eye appeal. Only 3,000 $3 gold pieces were struck for commerce, so these are quite scarce in any grade, especially as you approach the GEM grade. PCGS 124, NGC 97, CAC 26. The most recent CAC-approved example to sell was graded by PCGS and sold for $7,931 in our October 2021 Regency Auction. The current Collectors Universe value is $10,000 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $10,400. RARE finer, this wonderful near-GEM will delight any serious gold type collector or specialist of $3 gold.
