1849 Seated Liberty Dime. Fortin-101a. MS-64 (PCGS). Very scarce in Mint State, the 1849 probably suffered some hoarding and/or melting during the run up in silver prices during the early 1850s. The present example has come down to us with radiant satin-white surfaces and a more-or-less bold strike. A few wispy abrasions on the obverse do little more than define the grade.
