Lot Description
THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION, PART IV This is an impressively lustrous CHOICE example of this conditionally challenging date. While the 1870-S half dime, silver dollar, and $3 are excessively rare issues, over 1 million half dollars were coined this year. That said, Mint State examples are quite scarce, and become VERY RARE in MS63 or higher. This lovely MS63 boasts a brilliant silver luster that radiates boldly on both sides. Nicely impressed devices stand out. Any trace of contact is microscopic and visible only with a powerful loupe. The eye appeal is pleasing. PCGS 6, NGC 1. None have sold in six and a half years. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $5,000. Only seven are graded higher, including the Eliasberg-Gardner-Boylston MS65 CAC we sold in April 2021 that tied a world record price of $67,562. A pleasing coin that will fit nicely in a high grade set of Seated Liberty half dollars. Cert. Number 81283797 PCGS # 6329
