The 1917 Doubled Die is a very scarce variety in the series, and is very desirable in any Mint State grade. Satiny brown luster blooms all over with delicate overtones of olive and sky blue. Sharply struck and showing bold doubling there are a few tiny ticks and marks seen that hold it back from an even higher grade. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 12, NGC 1, CAC 1. This coin has not sold via auction. The most recent PCGS-graded example sold nearly five years ago. Going back to 2004, six examples have sold, bringing an average APR of $5,435. The current Collectors Universe value is $6,000 and the CAC CPG value is $6,250. Only 4 MS64 BNs have graded higher, none of which have ever sold in auction.
