1818/7 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-1. Large 8. AU-55 (NGC). A delightfully original specimen with deep lilac-purple color overall and iridescent cobalt and sea-green peripheries. This popular bold overdate retains partial luster under the toning and displays smooth, inviting surfaces with no marks of any consequence. Sharply defined overall, the denticles are weak at the top of the obverse and reverse due to a trivially off center strike. A scarce and desirable near-Mint coin from the early Capped Bust half dollar series. A fantastic opportunity for the collector focused on quality and originality.
