A beautiful, SUPERB early two cent piece in GEM. A popular variety, with repunching seen at the 8 and 6 of the date and the 5 logotype shows an upright positioning. Bold radiating mint luster shows a vivacious RED color that is quite eye arresting. The devices are sharply struck up and the surfaces are generally clean, showing just a few tiny stray ticks. PCGS 52, NGC 22, CAC 20. PCGS has graded just five Plain 5s in MS66 RD. We sold a regular MS66 RD 1865 for $4,070 in our November 2017 Premier Session.
