Description du lot
1855 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent. Judd-173, Pollock-198. Rarity-7-. Bronze. Plain Edge. Proof-63 BN (PCGS). 93% copper, 6.2% tin, 0.9% zinc. 93.36 grains. Obv: large eagle flying left, 13 stars around, date with italic 5s below. Rev: small central wreath, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, ONE / CENT within. Deep golden-tan surfaces exhibit soft underlying luster. Magnification picks up some detritus in places, particularly at the top of the obverse rim and among the reverse legends, but no significant or distracting marks are seen. A prized rarity in any grade with just a small handful of examples currently known.
