Description du lot
An outstanding specimen and the sole finest known 1854-C quarter eagle! From a modest mintage of 7,295 pieces, examples above AU55 are scarce with uncirculated survivors decidedly rare. Well-struck on a choice planchet this original green-gold tinges add rich eye appeal to the sunny-gold surfaces. Crisply detailed, especially sharp on the reverse. A small patch of mint-made planchet roughness between the first star and the tip of the bust is noted. Overall a one of a kind piece that will certainly excite the advanced Charlotte gold collector!
