Lot Description

Overton-110 in this early die state has not yet had the "3" reworked to become the later, very famous "ugly 3". A dot between gules 1 and 2 on the reverse identify the die-marriage. As a substantially lustrous, silvery coin, the peripheral areas display just a shade of bright cyan-grey that suggest the beginning of album color. Central definition on the obverse looks a trifle flat while the beautifully frosted reverse features a better impression of its respective details.
