- 1856-S Seated Liberty Quarter. Briggs 1-B. MS-61 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. A splendid example of this rare date that boasts creamy luster in the fields with flecks of russet-gold adhering to the devices with lighter teal hues in the fields. Boldly struck on the stars and the eagle, with no troubling softness on the devices. A prohibitively rare coin in mint state or even in high circulated grades. Large S mintmark on the reverse, lightly punched into the die at the base. A few shallow marks from handling, and identifiable by a shallow scratch above Liberty's head. Splendid eye appeal and surface quality for this issue and a highly desirable example for the connoisseur to pursue.
