- 1881 Pattern Cent. Judd-1665, Pollock-1865. Rarity-6+. Proof-65 Deep Cameo (PCGS). CAC. The obverse features a portrait of Liberty that is similar to that adopted for the regular issue Liberty Nickel series in 1883. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border and the date 1881 is below. On the reverse, a Roman numeral I for the denomination is centered within a wreath of corn and cotton. Struck in nickel with a plain edge.<br /> A brilliant Gem with strong field-to-device contrast and an overall smooth sheen.
