1851 Seated Liberty Half Dollar. WB-101. MS-64 (NGC). Repunched 51 South. Impressive quality for an 1851 half dollar as not many came down to this time virtually unscathed by handling, let alone circulation. Lustrous in the obverse and reverse fields, with dusky gray toning with blue tinges near the rims. The strike is sharp on Liberty's curls while the stars on the right side lack their centers, and the reverse rim is bold enough to show a partial wire edge on the rim. Heavy die clashing on the lower right reverse shield has nearly obliterated the vertical two stripes on the right.
