Grellman Die State a. Eagerly sought in all grades, the Newcomb-11 is the only die marriage that corresponds to the 1846 Medium Date <em>Guide Book</em> listing in the Braided Hair cent series. A superior quality example, as are so many of the cents in the fabulous Widmer Family Collection, this Red and Brown coin nicely blends abundant rose-red mint color with light, iridescent, steely-brown patina. There is some scattered carbon on both sides, most notably a faint spot on Liberty's neck that is the only obvious impediment to a Select Mint State grade. Free of all but a few minor marks, and boldly struck for the type, this is a visually engaging piece and conditionally rare offering in the certified RB category.
