- 1869 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-742, Pollock-823. Rarity-5. Silver. Reeded Edge. Proof-63 (PCGS). OGH. Obv: bust of Liberty right in Phrygian cap, two stars at forehead, ribbon in hair emblazoned LIBERTY, tiny B (Barber) designer's initial among ribbon folds, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, ribbon below bust seemingly reads IN GODD WE TRUST, with the D of GOD boldly and widely repunched. Rev: wreath of laurel and oak, STANDARD SILVER around, date below, 50 / CENTS within. Dies misaligned, top of reverse wreath points to 11 instead of 12 o'clock when turned on its <em>horizontal </em>axis.Boldly lustrous with frosty motifs and mirror fields slashed with warm golden highlights, especially at the rims. Lightly struck at BERT on the obverse ribbon but still a pleasure to behold.
