Lot Description
1795 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent. Fuld-1, W-8620. MS-65 RB (PCGS). 97.22 grains. A satiny, lustrous, and somewhat reflective Gem with a pleasing blend of golden-tan and mint orange throughout. The strike is fairly bold for the issue, and the eye appeal is substantial. A truly attractive specimen that is tied for finest RB of the variety certified by PCGS. Choice and appealing. Most 1795-dated Talbot, Allum & Lee cents were sold to the Mint wholesale as copper. At that institution half cent planchets were punched from the center of these, with the rest of the copper melted, then formed into ingots, rolled, and used for coinage of either half cents or copper cents.
