- 240.8 grains. Lustrous and frosty, this stunning Mint State example retains nearly complete mint color in warm golden-olive. There is just a bit of light toning and consequent mellowing of the color, which is most pronounced within the expansive left reverse field area. Sharply struck with only a few faint carbon flecks and marks, remnants of an old, light fingerprint at left obverse are the only impediments to a full Choice Uncirculated grade. This is one of the very finest 1723 Rosa Americana twopence we have ever handled; Syd Martin also had a PCGS MS-63, ex Ford, which brought $2,640 in our October 2022 Martin II sale.
