Losbeschreibung
1870 Pattern Dime. Judd-833, Pollock-923. Rarity-6+. Proof-65 RB (PCGS). Liberty is seated left on the obverse, her left hand holding an olive branch and her right hand supporting a shield over which a scroll inscribed LIBERTY is draped. A free-standing liberty pole is behind the portrait, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the border and the date 1870 is below. The reverse is the same design that the Mint used to produce regular issue 1870 Seated Liberty Dimes. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.<br />     Sharply struck with delicate lavender-blue and pale-orange highlights to dominant light-copper patina. With only 12 or so coins believed extant, this is a very scarce type indeed.
