1874 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-63 (PCGS). A vibrant and attractive example seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a Choice Mint State type set. Evenly toned in lovely orange-rose patina, the surfaces are overall smooth and suggestive of an even higher grade. While the 1874 vies with the 1854 and 1878 as the most frequently encountered three-dollar gold piece in today's market, no issue in this short-lived series can rightly be called common in an absolute sense.
