Lot Description

1795 Washington Liberty and Security Halfpenny. Baker-31B, W-11010. Rarity-5. BIRMINGHAM Edge. MS-63 BN (PCGS). 131.0 grains. Edge: PAYABLE AT BIRMINGHAM REDRUTH OR SWANSEA, an edge style that was used numerous times in the British Conder token series. Deep golden-tan on the obverse, the reverse a trifle deeper in color. Typical strike for the issue with some central weakness on both sides. Reverse die cracks arcs across the eagle's head from the Y on LIBERTY to the ECU in SECURITY. A pleasing rendition of a scarce variety, and a coin with a solid provenance as well.
