- 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition Quarter Eagle. MS-61 (NGC).
Frosty honey gold with lively rose highlights. A very attractive design of a classical nature -- perhaps accenting the lack of classical motifs in modern coinage. The obverse depicts a mythical hippocampus, while the reverse shows an eagle perched on a standard, a motif created by George T. Morgan as the reverse of an 1877 pattern half dollar, later employed on the reverse of the famous 1879 Schoolgirl pattern dollar.
PCGS# 7450.
