1787 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 3-G, W-6090. Rarity-3-. Arrows in Left Talon. AU-58 (PCGS). 147.6 grains. Medium brown with emerald overtones and shimmering original mint luster, this ideally centered example is about as perfect as one is wont to find. Lighter tan where the highest points of design motifs were subject to subtle friction and the softness of strike that bedevils nearly every Massachusetts copper at its central high points. Whether for a choice colonial type collection or a high end die variety set, this piece will never need to be replaced. Provenance: From the Michael Demling Collection of Massachusetts Cents.
