- A blush of orange-apricot patina enlivens otherwise medium gold surfaces. Light hairlines and other wispy marks are noted, but they are offset by traces of original luster and plenty of bold strike detail. The Large Date is by far the rarer of the two logotypes that the Philadelphia Mint used in production of double eagles in 1854.
