Description du lot
THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION, PART IV As the mint's focus after the passage of the Bland-Allison Act in 1878 changed to the churning out of hundreds of millions of Morgan dollars; the striking of silver minor coinage (dimes, quarters, and half dollars) shrank to low five-figure levels. Only 10,000 circulation strike half dollars were struck in 1881. Like many of these lower mintage issues this highly lustrous GEM possesses a flashy, semi-reflective luster below a lightly satiny mint frost. The devices on both sides show generally sharp definition throughout. The details are frosty and stand out from the smoothness of the fields surrounding them. The eye appeal is excellent! PCGS 13, NGC 6. The most recent example sold in auction was back in October 2019, realizing $3,600; today the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,500. VERY RARE any finer. Good luck. Cert. Number 36621367 PCGS # 6363
