1836 Classic Head Half Eagle. HM-2. Rarity-4+. AU-58 (PCGS). Glints of vivid reddish-rose iridescence appear to drift toward the borders on both sides of this otherwise golden-honey example. According to Daryl J. Haynor and John W. McCloskey (United States Classic Gold Coins of 1834-1839, 2020), this scarce die pairing accounts for only 6% of extant 1836 half eagles.
