This smooth and frosty example exhibits a dusting of iridescent champagne-pink and sea-green toning that appears to drift toward the borders. Both sides are sharply struck and expertly preserved. With a sizeable mintage of 1,165,000 pieces, the 1843 is one of the most frequently encountered half dimes from the 1840s. Superb Gems such as this are rare, however, the present example sure to have no difficulty finding its way a highly regarded cabinet.
