Lot Description

A lovely choice, original Bust dollar that features a rich natural patina accentuates this boldly detailed coin. Hints of mint luster survive in the protected areas of the design. We feel that NGC may have “net” graded this coin as the details are stronger than what we normally see on coins graded AU50, but there are a few minor rim marks. PCGS 85, NGC 44. These include examples of all varieties of the Large Eagle type. This coin realized $5,053 in our September 2016 Regency Auction, where it was consigned to us from a world coin dealer who had spotted this coin, raw, in a European coin shop. A dull gray, NGC AU50 brought $5,405 at the bottom of the market in February 2016. The Collector’s Universe Price is $7,000.
