1738-S French Colonies Sou Marque. Reims Mint. Vlack-179. Rarity-4. AU-58 (PCGS). 28.9 grains. A technically fine and visually rewarding example of this scarce issue, a trifle soft in terms of striking definition, but pleasingly original and unmarred. Even olive-gray toning adorns each side, and a couple of minor planchet laminations on the upper left obverse do very little to impair the overall attractive appearance of this near-Mint example. One of two specimens graded by PCGS, both of which are graded at AU-58.
