The Lakewood Collection. Mintage: 9,772. Held in high esteem by branch-mint gold collectors, 1852-C is collectable in all grades, including the so-called middle grade of VF-30, which is a level befitting this moderately circulated example. The surface appears a trifle coarse when viewed with a loupe, likely due to the state of the planchet and dies at the Charlotte mint, and the central details are bluntly rendered, as always.
