1812 Classic Head Cent. S-289. Rarity-1. Large Date. AU-58 (PCGS). Generous frosty luster glows across the well-preserved surfaces of this barely circulated specimen. The color is a pleasing coffee brown with undertones of lighter chocolate and tan. Remarkably nice planchet quality for a type that often comes dark, porous, or otherwise unattractive. The already stellar eye appeal is enhanced by a strong, perfectly centered strike. A glass reveals some trivial abrasions on the portrait while the fields are almost entirely unscathed. A thin, curved depression at TES of STATES is a strike through and as-made. An outstanding example of the Classic or Turban Head type. PCGS# 1564. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
