Description du lot

1859 Indian Cent. Proof-65 Cameo (NGC). Gorgeous quality for this important single year type coin and one of the few Cameo examples seen. Furthermore the Gem grade is always a delight and seldom offered. The strike is sharp throughout, with good contrast between the frosted devices and mirrored reflective fields. A splendid, jewel-like example of this elusive cent with traces of copper-red patina particularly over the obverse. Mintage of 800 pieces. NGC Census: 7; 7 finer (PR-67 Cameo finest -- only 1 PR-65 Ultra Cameo reported). PCGS# 82247. NGC ID: 2299. Click here for certification details from NGC. Additional image by NGC Photo Vision.
