1870 Pattern Quarter. Judd-889, Pollock-988. Rarity-7-. Proof-65 (PCGS). Silver. Plain edge. Pale champagne iridescence enhances sharp, satiny motifs and blazing mirror fields. All design features are about as sharp as could be desired. Certainly, one of the finest known examples of the variety. Pollock was able to account for only a tiny handful of different examples when he wrote is pattern opus back in 1994. One of the top three specimens certified by PCGS over the years.
