- Tilted mintmark. Denver produced "no motto" double-eagles only in 1908, creating a type coin of some significance to collectors. These often come well struck, as is the case here, the grade determined primarily by a an oblong blemish immediately right of Liberty's head. It appears that a minority feature the "D" mintmark prominently rotated counterclockwise from correct alignment.
