Description du lot
1886 Indian Cent. Type II. Proof-66 BN (NGC). CAC. An elegant piece whose charm is accentuated by the presence of vivid mahogany-brown toning that is accented with cobalt-blue hues on each side. A bold strike is also noted overall on this moderately reflective example. Known as the Type II Variety for the year, with the last feather-tip of the headdress pointing in between the C and A of AMERICA. Snow [A Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents, 2006] estimates there were 1,750 coins of this variety produced, making it somewhat scarcer than the Type I variety, as the combined proof mintage totaled 4,290 pieces.
