1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 52-i, W-5280. Rarity-3. Outlined Shield. VF-35. 145.4 grains. Deep golden-tan surfaces exhibit bold design elements, nice centering, and no serious contact marks or blemishes other than a small planchet rift, as struck, on the reverse from the rim at 8 o'clock through E to the shield. Tiny rim clip at top of obverse. Choice for the grade with an overall appeal that speaks of a finer grade. PCGS# 503. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) First National Bank of Denver Collection sale, June 1987, lot 2056. Lot tag included.
