1849-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. Die State II. AU-55 (NGC). Blushes of pretty pinkish-rose iridescence drift toward the borders on both sides of this otherwise honey-olive piece. Our multiple offerings for AU examples in this sale notwithstanding, the 1849-C half eagle is a conditionally challenging Southern gold issue that can be quite elusive in grades above Extremely Fine.
