Tompkins Die Stage 5/4, Rea et al. Die State d. Wisps of peripheral toning to otherwise silver gray surfaces define this middle-to-late die state example of the 1836 Browning-3 variety.
Steve M. Tompkins Commentary: One of my earliest purchases in a Bust quarter, from a local dealer at the Kansas City monthly show. Rex Phillips and his wife Cindy were instrumental in stirring my interest in Capped Bust half dollars and, eventually, also the early quarters. I wish I remember what I traded to Rex for this coin - was it a Bust half? Some other more modern coins? I just don't remember, but whatever it was I'm glad I made that trade.
