Subtle rose highlights mingle with dominant autumn-orange mint color on both sides of this wonderfully original example. A smartly impressed, smooth and attractive coin that is not far from an even higher Gem Mint State rating. While much scarcer than the 1864 Large Motto and 1865, the 1869 (1,546,500 circulation strikes produced) is still readily obtainable in grades through Choice Mint State. In Gem, however, this issue becomes a severe condition rarity, especially with full Red color, as here.
