1843-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 9-F. Small D. AU-50 (PCGS). CAC. The 1843 Small D variety is much scarcer than its Medium D counterpart, from the same date and mint. To date, PCGS has graded 266 examples of the Medium D type, but only 50 Small D pieces. This is a lovely AU with warm, even, honey-olive color that speaks volumes about its originality.
