1847-C Liberty Half Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (9-E). AU-53 (PCGS). Warm khaki-silver patina evenly blankets both sides of this lightly circulated survivor. With a bold strike and few outwardly distracting abrasions, this coin is a nice-looking AU survivor from a mintage of fewer than 100,000 pieces. In high grades (read: AU and Mint State), the 1847-C is rarer than such other Half Eagles as the 1849-C, 1850-C and 1853-C.
