- 1864 Pattern Liberty Seated Dime. Judd-381, Pollock-449. Rarity-7-. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-66 RB (NGC).
Struck from the regular dies of the 1864 Liberty Seated dime, in fact Judd believes they were restrikes rather than trial pieces. Whatever the case, this is a rarified dime, presenting fantastically toned surfaces, with violet-purple devices over mottled red-and-brown-toned fields. Neither side reveals much in terms of distracting blemishes or abrasions, and the overall appeal verges on phenomenal.
PCGS# 70552.
