Description du lot
1857 Braided Hair Cent. N-4. Rarity-1. Small Date. MS-66 RB (NGC). Lovely iridescent lilac-brown patina mingles with warm rose-orange mint color on both sides of this expertly preserved Gem. The strike is a tad soft overall, typical of a later striking from these dies, but plenty of sharp definition is evident throughout Liberty's portrait and portions of the wreath on the reverse. Frosty in texture and expectably smooth for the assigned grade. A shallow reverse strike through at the letter E in ONE is as made. This example is among the finest certified survivors from this popular, terminal in the United States Mint's large cent issue, and it is sure to be of keen interest to quality-conscious bidders. Noyes Die State B/C. NGC Census (all die marriages of the issue): 2; 0 finer in this category. PCGS# 1932. Click here for certification details from NGC.
